What Does This Training Do?
With Alpha-Theta training, we are extinguishing conditioned responses to stress and anxiety and replacing them with a reaction of calm, focus. Conditioned responses are learned responses that have been engrained in our behavior over time. The classic example of this is Pavlov's Dog. Pavlov trained a dog to feel hungry any time he heard a bell ring by feeding the dog as soon as the bell rang. The dog began to associate the bell ringing with being fed. The same thing happens with humans. Once we start to associate feelings of anxiety with specific stimuli, we will feel anxiety even when we rationally don't think we should. The BrainKanix training system breaks that loop. Through the use of positive and negative feedback, and visualization techniques, athletes begin to associate a calm, focused feeling with the situations that used to trigger anxiety or stress. This is incredibly valuable in sports and will allow each athlete to access their full physical prowess because their head will be clear.
